From the Pope and Young Club:
Chatfield, MN – The Pope and Young Club has recently conducted an analysis of its trophy entry fee cost based on historical data and today’s actual cost of processing entries by staff. While reviewing historical information, we learned that the Club had raised entry fees, on average, every 11-12 years. These increases were often conducted to ensure staff costs were offset, and the Club made a minimal profit that could be directed towards other operating expenses.
The Club’s current entry fee cost ($35) is no longer sustainable to offset all costs associated with processing entries. Additionally, the Club’s last entry fee increase was twelve years ago (2008), further indicating an adjustment was warranted. After reviewing all the information, the Board approved an increase to the trophy entry fee from $35 to $40 per animal, beginning November 1, 2020.
“As the Executive Director and primary steward of the Club’s operating expenses, I am often tasked with overseeing these types of fiscal functions. Delivering difficult news to our members, prospective members, and the Board is a tough thing to do,” said Jason Rounsaville, Executive Director for the Pope and Young Club. “While increasing any cost(s) associated with the Pope and Young Club is never a good topic to deliver, this change is needed to cover the rising cost of doing business. For all of you hunters who are thinking of entering an animal, NOW is the time to coordinate with your nearest measurer and HAVE YOUR ANIMAL ENTERED BEFORE NOVEMBER 1, 2020, so you can take advantage of the lower price! Thank you all for your continued support and understanding through these unprecedented times.”
