MISSOULA, Mont. – Backcountry Hunters & Anglers is anticipating an unprecedented turnout in Boise, Idaho, May 1-4 for BHA’s 8th Annual North American Rendezvous, the largest gathering of public lands sportsmen and women in the continent.
Following a wildly successful event last year, the young and fast-growing organization expects a higher turnout and rate of engagement than ever before and is offering attendees a packed schedule and all-star speaker lineup at this year’s event.
The 2019 Rendezvous agenda reflects the diversity of those invested in the future of public access, wildlife populations and hunting and fishing opportunities across North America. Speakers for Saturday night’s BHA Campfire Stories, presented by C.C. Filson, include luminaries like Sen. Martin Heinrich from New Mexico, renowned chef and entrepreneur Eduardo Garcia, MeatEater Conservation Director Ryan Callaghan and BHA’s own Southwest Chapter Coordinator Katie DeLorenzo. A live MeatEater podcast with Steven Rinella caps festivities on Friday night, and returning favorites like the Beers, Bands and Public Lands brewfest, Wild Game Cookoff and Public Land Owner Film Fest promise to draw large and enthusiastic crowds.
BHA President and CEO Land Tawney underscored the group’s enthusiasm for its return to Boise.
“This year will be off the charts,” said Tawney. “Idaho’s hunting and fishing community brought the heat in 2018, and we could not be more stoked to return to the city of Boise. With over 34,000 members spread across chapters in 39 states and two provinces, BHA is well positioned for our best year yet. Let’s celebrate our success and plan for the future of our public lands and waters together! The revolution is alive…and it’s growing.”
Backcountry Hunters & Anglers was formed around an Oregon campfire in 2004. With chapters in 39 states, two Canadian provinces and Washington, D.C., BHA brings an authentic, informed, boots-on-the-ground voice to the conservation of public lands. Abundant access to our lands and waters, conservation of important fish and wildlife habitat and the principles of fair chase underlie the BHA mission.
