Annual fitness competition gets bigger and better with $30K in prizes
for miles covered, social media posts, funds raised for conservation

MISSOULA, Mont. – Backcountry Hunters & Anglers’ annual Hike to Hunt Challenge, a hiking and fundraising competition that encourages sportsmen and women to get in shape while raising funds to conserve North America’s wild public lands and waters, returns in 2019 bigger and better. More than $30,000 in prizes will be awarded during the two-month Hike to Hunt, which kicks off June 1.

Running through July 31, BHA’s 2019 Hike to Hunt Challenge includes weekly social media contests and prizes for most miles hiked and funds raised. BHA members can get in on the action by downloading the free Under Armour “Map My Hike” app and joining the “Hike to Hunt Challenge.” Participants track their hikes and trail runs to compete for the amazing array of prizes, all provided by BHA corporate partners in the name of public lands conservation.

“BHA’s Hike to Hunt is back for the third year and bigger than ever,” said Ty Stubblefield, BHA chapter coordinator and new chapter development. “If you want to get in shape, experience camaraderie and raise money for your favorite wild places, this is the place to do it. We’re thrilled to work with conservation-minded corporate allies to provide a fun and fitness-based summer competition that the whole family can enjoy!

“This year’s Hike to Hunt Challenge is chock full of awesome prizes, with $30,000 worth of gear in 27 different packages,” continued Stubblefield. “I’m looking forward to Hike to Hunt not only to keep me motivated to stay in shape but more importantly to grow the great community we’ve built over the past three years. You won’t find a more welcoming group of conservationists anywhere in North America!”

BHA corporate partners Gerber, goHUNT, NEMO Equipment, onX, Stone GlacierUnder Armour and Vortex Optics are making the 2019 Hike to Hunt Challenge a reality by donating amazing prize packages and unleashing their staffers to compete alongside BHA members.

“It’s amazing what a little competition will do for self-motivation,” said BHA President and CEO Land Tawney. “Last year Hike to Hunt was just what I needed to get ready to climb steep hills and follow my black Lab, Tule, across the prairie. I anticipate this year being the best yet. We at BHA offer a huge thank you to our corporate partners who are throwing down in a big way. The prize packages alone should be motivation to get off the couch. Hike early; hike often. Let’s raise some money and have some good clean fun!”

Participants can boost their chances of winning by posting hikes and updates on social media, tagging Backcountry Hunters & Anglers and the Hike to Hunt partners on Facebook and Instagram: @backcountryhunters @uahunt @gerbergear @gohunt @nemoequipment @vortexoptics @onxhunt @stoneglacier and including #hiketohunt in their posts.
