Better glassing can make all the difference on a hunt. A video from Greg McHale offers tips for glassing.
From Greg McHale:
“The Glassing Trick You NEED to Know to Level Up Your Game! One of the most essential strategies for mountain hunters is how they go about glassing. If you aren’t glassing effectively, you aren’t hunting effectively. A good starting point is to sit down and pull out the spotting scope when reaching a col or pass that opens up a new basin or valley. With so much new terrain in sight, it’s worth picking the terrain apart with your most powerful optics. Once I’ve determined that there isn’t anything of interest in sight, I pack up and keep moving. While I move through this area I’ve already covered, I will glass with my pack on. This is where I continue to move as much as possible to get into a new area, but I also need to check to see if something is moving or if my new location has opened up a view into a hidden pocket. I rely on my Vortex Optics Razor UHD 10×42 binoculars to balance how easily I can glass while standing and seeing far enough.”
