Mental fitness is critical for getting the job done on a tough mountain hunt. In a video, Greg McHale breaks down mental preparation.
From Greg McHale’s Wild Yukon:
“Mental preparation. Your ability to push your body and handle both internal and external challenges is seated in your mind. Have you trained your mind to handle pain, discomfort, inclement weather, doubts and fears? If you haven’t, you’re leaving a lot on the table.
Learn to dominate your mind and it’s endless desire to end your hunt and return to the comfort of your home. You’ve heard of ‘grit’ and ‘mental toughness.’ Have you wondered why those trained in the military make good hunters? It’s largely due to their experience pushing through nasty situations under duress. While we can’t all go to boot camp, we can learn to train our minds to better handle the stresses of a good mountain hunt.”
