Hunting Gear Review: The KUIU Yukon Gaiters

We spent a good chunk of time in the mountains this summer, and while trekking around, we tested out several different gaiters. Among those we tested were the KUIU Yukon Gaiters.

Ultralight mountain hunting — this is what KUIU is known for, and these folks make it clear that their gear is tested on hard mountain hunts. That said, their gear ought to be top tier in these settings. Additionally, KUIU gear ought to have thoughtful design that comes out of this unmatched experience in the high country.

It’s incredibly rare that we find shortcomings with KUIU gear, and in the case of the Yukon Gaiters, all of our expectations were met. Among the highlights, these gaiters are in fact lightweight, and they are also comfortable, durable, and quiet.

The comfort of these gaiters are the result of materials that are lightweight and breathable and a design that allows for numerous adjustments so that you get a perfect fit. The KUIU Yukon Gaiters and lightweight and breathable, but you don’t sacrifice durability. This is vital. Otherwise, what’s the point?!

Also important is that these gaiters are quiet. Note: It seems as though if you are lazy about lining up the velcro, you are likely to get some minor noise, but if you properly put these gaiters on, you should be good to go.
