Video: Bowhunting Dall Sheep in Alaska in The Hard Way | Episode 3 from SITKA Films

A next level hunt! In a video from SITKA Films, Paul Forward heads to the Alaska backcountry with a traditional bow to hunt Dall sheep.

From SITKA:

“Chasing Dall sheep for 30 days with a traditional bow in the Alaskan backcountry—this is the journey of a man who finds meaning in doing things the hard way.

Paul Forward is a professional ski guide, whitewater kayaker, full-time physician, traditional bowhunter, and SITKA Ambassador based outside of Anchorage, Alaska. Earlier this spring, he drew an any-ram archery tag that’s only open for a 30-day season, and we documented his pursuit of one of the most difficult animals to bow hunt. The ever-changing elements of the Chugach Mountains and the miles of sketchy terrain set the stage for a tricky hunt, but that’s just the start.

Being within 100 yards of a Dall sheep is tough. Getting within 50 yards to take aim with compound bow is even tougher. But getting within 30 yards to get an accurate shot with a traditional longbow is about as tough as it gets.

It takes a certain level of dedication to enjoy this type of hunt, but for Paul, it’s the only way he’d consider doing it.”
